Volunteers who provide one-on-one homework help make a lasting difference in the life of a child:
- *by focusing on reading so that each child reaches, maintains or surpasses third grade
- reading level
- *by being a Caring Adult with whom the student can form a trusting relationship
- by participating consistently throughout the school year
How you can help:
You may be able to be a volunteer to start in October, 2021. If interested in applying, please fill out the contact form and send us your information and we will get in touch with you. Volunteers need to be at least 16 years old. All volunteers submit an application, visit the program, have an interview, and undergo a CORI background check. Training and orientation are provided. Volunteers are needed as Homework Tutors and Learning Project Leaders.
We offer opportunities for Community Service, Community Based learning, and Intern placements for high school and
For the 2021-2022 school year, we are looking for volunteer tutors for Thursday afternoons. The hours are 3:30-5:30 pm; the first hour
is for homework and reading, the second is for small group projects. Volunteers are welcome to stay for just the first hour, or for
both. Please note: all volunteers must be fully vaccinated for Covid as of the beginning of the Program year.
